Patrick Murray is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with 24 years of active service in our nation’s military. Patrick spent over a decade stationed abroad in tours in Iraq, Russia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Kosovo. As a veteran, Patrick followed in the footsteps of his father, who served in World War II.

He got started in the military when he enrolled in the ROTC program at Oklahoma State University. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant upon graduation and served on combat units on the former East-West German border. He commanded tanks for seven years and went on to serve as a Foreign Area Officer in the Defense Intelligence Agency.

During his Army career he worked at the U.S. embassies in Russia (where he learned to speak Russian), Belarus, Bosnia, Yugoslavia, and Kosovo.

He was deployed to Iraq during the 2007 surge with the Joint Forces Command and the Multi-National Forces Iraq. He retired after a final tour at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, NY as a member of the U.S. Military Staff Committee. He is a resident of Alexandria.
